| DAY 01 April 14th, 2008 Jesus of the day: "Andenken an die 1. Heilige Kommunion" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The first day of my project was quiet but exciting. Coming home from work was the first day I came home to Jesus, so to speak. All Jesus images are arranged on the wall in a certain way: They all look towards the door. (With the exception of three or so of them). Coming home to Jesus is a strange feeling for an unreligious or unspiritual person like me. But I have to admit that the upcoming opening and the fact that for the first time ever I would have strangers as guests in my home kind of overshadowed the experience. Especially since not everything was in place. It sure was interesting what kind of concersations developed between five people looking at Jesus images. Strangely enough, the one theologist in the round kept rather quiet. I thought he'd be more outgoing with his knowledge. Since this first day is over, I can look back and say: It was right to do this project. I'm looking forward to rest of it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5:30 am I'm at home in Neu-Ulm with my wife. I weekend-commute between here and Stuttgart, which is why my project in Stuttgart mainly takes part from Mondays to Thursdays. This is also why "Living With Jesus" starts tonight at eight, with the "opening ceremony", instead of right now. I'm expecting a few guests tonight who will spend the first evening with me in my flat in Stuttgart, where 50 Jesus images now had one and a half days to get used to being where they are. In two hours, I will board the TGV, a french high speed train that starts from Munich, Germany and runs straight through to Paris. Then I will have to work the whole day. I expect to open the doors to my flat at around seven. What will it be like to be "greated" by 50 Jesus images? Will the surveillance camera still be running properly? Will the images still be hanging on the walls? Will I have managed to arrange for some catering? How will my guests react? My goals for today: - Get the project running properly. - Start reading the Bible. - Spend time with the "Jesus of the Day". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
