Livin' With Jesus
DAY 16

Jesus of the day: "krippe 11-teilig"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I ended yesterdays rant on the connection of Jesus and "taking responsibility" and "being persistent".

This is another point where I would argue that the majority - if not all - basic human conflicts are laid down in the bible. Jesus took full responsibility for his actions and he followed it through, accepting the consequences. He also asked of his disciples to follow him, to leave their families, to sell everything they own ... he asks them to do it completely or not at all. What else is that than telling them: if you really want something, you can do it?

Yes, this is very worldly and doesn't fit with the idea of some that reward is granted in heaven, if at all. I saw something the other day, I believe it was Doctor House, when someone said that if there is no god and no life thereafter, then everything we do during our lifetimes is in vain and has no final consequences.

How do people who believe that manage to stay alive? I'm a sucker for attention and the burning sensation of success. I'm a "push button - observe effect" guy. This also goes for my moral standards. I don't help people so I can feel proud of myself. But I sure love to feel good afterwards. I find it reasonable to believe that humans evolved from animals (maybe God was involveld in that, who knows), And if they did, they are as much dependend on reward as any other animal.

I'm just saying that I find it very much acceptable to have a good life with high moral standards and not think about pain and suffering, but about the good things in life. My wife says that if we all followed Jesus' suggestion and loved our neighbours as we love ourself, then it would be heaven on earth. I agree. But it's difficult to love your neighbough 24/7, when they are being noisy at night, isn't it?
