Livin' With Jesus
DAY 38

Jesus of the day: "Father And Son"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is written in the ten commandments, that "You shall not make for yourself an idol". So this image is, strictly speaking, a blasphemy. At least to some it is, I rather like it.

But when you think of it, the bible itself contains contradictory information. The quote above is from Exodus 20:2–17. Which is not the first book. Before, and please correct me if I'm wrong, there is the Genesis, where it is written:

" So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27)

Therefore we already know what God looks like because he created man to be just like him. At least that's how I understand that passage. Now, you could always say that he wanted us to know we look just like him, but that we still shouldn't create any images to worship instead of worshipping him. Or, to phrase it differently, we should take care to direct our feelings, our respect and out hearts to the cause and not the image.

Which again is a pretty strong statement. Much like the idea of giving away your money and instead believing in God. The one is a very philosophical point, the other is almost anti-capitalist. Now how could a capitalist world have evolved if everybody was a God-fearing christian? Explain me that.
