GUESTS OF DAY 03 - April 16th
Tonight I was visited by Uwe Thomas from Metropolis AG in Reutlingen.
I only met him a few weeks ago and only saw him twice. He spontaneously
reacted to my invitation (which went out as sort of a return of a favour)
and dropped in after a business meeting tonight.
It's really kind of a bummer, that my doorbell isn't working and people
have to call me ...
Nevermind. It was a very interesting evening. As with some other guests,
Thomas' stories about the role of religion in his life is characterized
by a bi-polar set up between him and his partner. He dropped out of church
at some time. A kind of similar set-up to my own, in a way. But I don't
want to go into too private matters here, but it is funny how most people
who visited so far still have a very strong connection to a spirituality
of some sort or another. May that's why they come?
Uwe was very interested in the pictures and at times I marvelled at how
closely he looked at each and everyone of the images. Sharing what little
knowledge I have about the images and the symbolism and the stories behind
it, we had quite a lot of moments where he said: "Now that you say
it, it sounds familiar." For me a sign of how deeply rooted christianity
is in most of us. (Still waiting for a non christian visitor, then all
this might change.)
His favourite Jesus is on the very far wall. It consists of the two images
right below the really big one and is entitled: "Jesus aux noces
de cana". It's actually a type of a puzzle, you'll understand as
soon as it is "Jesus of the day."
