GUESTS OF DAY 09 - April 28th
Tonight, I was visited by my colleagues Verena Schiml and Oliver Schmid,
as well as by Björn Börris Peters, a graphic designer.
The evening brought forth some interesting things, as my guests revealed
some sides I hadn't known in them before. Oliver
for example picked a special favourite Jesus, based on his knowledge about
Jerusalem, rather than on the actual image. Not that this analytical approach
was a big surprise, but I wouldn't have expected for Oliver to react in
an almost emotional way to role of Jerusalem in the history of "modern
man".
Verena however showed a leven of interest I would not have expected. I
could have, however, since she is painting herself and so I could have
assumed a certain level of interest in motives, techniques and the whole
project. All in all I have to say that with many people whose visit I
would have classified as a matter of being friendly to a colleague or
being interested what a colleague does in his spare time, it has developed
into very interesting evenings with interesting conversations about God,
chruch, belief and so on. None of the talks are overtly serious but the
topic seems to spark a motivation for psychologically and philiosophically
toned conversations.
Björn, who I don't know very well, argued not only from a graphic
designers point of view, but also from a spiritual. He spent a lot of
time taking in the many many details of the different motives.
For me this evening symbolizes the potential of finding hidden layers
in people's personality through projects like this. I'm sure I'm quting
nothing new here, but if you want to get to know other people, it's best
done through something you are passionate about. The way people react
to that can tell you a lot about them. And I'm not talking about how much
they like you, but about their own selves. If you are interested in other
people, that is.
