JESUS # 06
"Jesus am Kreuz auf dem Berg"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have decided on this Jesus to be the Jesus of the day because I liked
Michael's reason so much, why he picked it as his favourite Jesus. He said,
Jesus looked so sad and lonely.
Upon checking the other images I have, I must say that this is by far the
saddest looking Jesus in my collection. And he is placed on the left wall,
closest to the floor and he seems not to be noticed there too much. He is
not asking for attention like other images are doing.
The quality and detail of this one is actually quite striking. If you get
close to the face, it looks almost like a photograph.
The placing of the image has too effects: One seems to look down over the
hills, much like he himself would be able to do from his position. But one
is also looking down on him. Which places the viewer above Jesus, into the
position of his "father", one could say. This and the sadness
on Jesus' face creates a very unique feeling in me as a viewer. A hint of
pity mixed with benevolence and a trifle unpleasantness.
