"Einzug nach Jerusalem"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to the seller, this is a chromolitography from France, dated 1881. I have no way of verifying that but the image is nice nevertheless. One of guests (Deniz, in fact) pointed out that the golden sky is stonewalled. The image has a really nice perspective effect to it.

Oliver, who was the first to select this as his favourite motive pointed out that he did so because of the role of Jerusalem in the history of the world. Not only is it one of the oldest cities in the world, regarded as a holy city in Judaism, Christianity and in the Islam, it is also a place of long lasting and severe conflict, just naming the Six Day War in 1967 as one example.

It seems to me as though it were kind of logical that what seems to be a common hub in different religions and therefore different cultures would develop into a hotspot of negative proportions. On the other hand I ask myself whether that is not somewhat against the core rules of the partaking religions. But then again I'm not experienced enough in either religion to make such a statement.

What I can say however is that this motive might have the strongest connection to the world we live in today, stronger than any of the other motives.
