JESUS # 16 - May
8th
"krippe 11-teilig"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a multiple created by Oliver Fabel. The company I work for bought
a set of christmas presents like this one for everyone in 2007. My colleague
Claudia picked this one and gave it to me for my project.
Apart from this being very pragmatic and somewhat "arty", I
must say that I like the reduced style. Simply because now all the kings
and Mary and Joseph and Jesus will like you want them to look like. And
it is very easy to expand this set by a few angels. Plus it is compatible
with all the natural building blocks parents are always buying for their
kids.
Maybe this is a hint at a more modern approach that could make christian
religious items as interesting a decoration as for example pink Buddhas.
Not that this leads to more "believers" but it would ensure
that this remains part of our culture. Then again, the cross and images
of Mary are used for decorating homes, cleavages and panties the world
over, whether the owner is religious or not. So maybe that's not really
the issue.
