JESUS # 24 - May
24th
"Entombed"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I bought this one on a flea market in Reutlingen. It was sitting on the
floow beside another onbe in the same format and style, which pictured
the entombed Mary. Since my interest lies in Jesus and since I didn't
have enogh money and since I didn't want to carry two images all the way
back to the car, I asked for this one only.
Which was when the atmosphere got really sad. The people selling the images
were a couple in their mid thirties, maybe. When I asked for the picture
she said to her friend/husband: "They were always habging there together
at your mothers ..." Upon which he said that he'd like to sell them
together and that the price would be 36,- Euros. I said that I would think
about it and went through the rest of the flea market.
I returned before I left and said that really I only wanted the Jesus
image if that would be ok. I guess they didn't want to drag everything
back home so I got the one for 18,- Euros.
From the reaktion of both of them I asumed that his mother had just ied
and they were trying to sell some items from her house. Things they had
no room/use for but didn't want to just throw away.
I have never before or after bought a Jesus in such a sad atmosphere ...
