JESUS # 25 - May

"Führe mich Du"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a postcard from the First World War. I had to have this one because
it is a great example how religion is used to motivate people who are
actually about to break several of the 10 commandments.
Isn't that absurd? The Germany were envious of their neighbours belongings.
They didn't love their neighbours, let alone their enimies and they went
out to kill. Luckily they all had a god they were able to pray to for
assistance and protection. One could well grow bitter and say: "These
people didn't deserve God." But then again, this would be extremely
polemic and not in the least better. The thought kind of creeps up, though.
To be, being born decades later, grown up in peace, this is a symbol of
the giving in of the population at that time. The resignation. "If
this is how it is, then I take no responsibility."
It is also a symbol of the massive propaganda machine rolling through
the world at all times. Not all campaigns are as evil as this one, though.
But it's always the same. Even me promoting my little project is a tiny
propaganda device. And I'm not sure whether I like propaganda. I question
it more and more as I grow older ...
