Livin' With Jesus

JESUS # 26 - May 27th

"Knock, Knock"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love this very tiny item. It's handcrafted. The nice wooden stick with the rugged edges at the top, the glued on flower made of fabric at the bottom, the hand painted glitter. The frame made of lighter wood is not glued on, by the way. Someone made the effort and tied it up with pieces of string.

The motive is the visualisation of a sentence attributed to Jesus in the Bible:

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you."

Matthew 7:6-8

What strikes me is the care someone must have put into that. Was it created for at home or as a present? If as a present, who was it for? And why did it end up on ebay? I don't even know, how old this one is. It just seems to me as if in earlier times, people took more time to do things like that. They took more time to do things in general. Where is that time?

Weren't we supposed to have more time now? How can an office job be more tireing than getting up at 5 to feed the cows and work in the fields all day, or as a maid, like my grandmother in law used to?

Does eight hours of brainwork make people so dumb in the head that they can't do anything productive when they get home? Not even little things like this? Or is it just me who feels that way? I don't think so, because people in my environment are the same. Some even more so. Where did all that energy go?
