Livin' With Jesus

JESUS # 33 - June 23rd

"Cross Stitch Jesus"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The pun is not mine. "Cross Stitching" is, in case you didn't already know, a big business. Or at least it was at some time and probably still is in some countries of the world.

I was slightly aware of the fact that there must be religious motives available, but it wasn't until I saw this specimen on ebay that I realized the really bad pun .. cross stitch ... oh, well.

I ordered this from Shanghai and it arrived promptly in small black plastic envelope with another cross stitch goodie. Both of these are actually part of the package, but since there is no Jesus on them, they are not on display.

What strikes me are the very lively colours available to stitch Jesus. Also the highly complex way in which this has to be done (view some details here, here and here.)

One could have a lot of fun with this. For example one could replace the colours by shades of grey. Or by a Warhol colour range. Or select them by ramdomly picking colours from a box.

I decided not to actually stitch this one. My abilities in that field are limited and anyway I think it looks very nice, the way it's framed.
