JESUS # 36 - July 7th


"La Vierge adorant l'Enfant"

This is a very interesting image:

First, it shows Jesus naked, so we can see he's actually a boy.
Second, it's somewhere in the dark woods that look more like Skandinavia than Bethlehem.
Third, John the Baptist there although that is not very realistic.
Fourth, God and the Dove/Holy Ghost complete the Holy Trinity.
Fifth, I don't know who the old man on the left is.
Sixth, there is an axe bottom left I have no idea about why that's there.
Seventh, Jesus looks like the German actor Ottfried Fischer (see image on the bottom right).

From the texture and atmoaphere, this image is pretty unique within my collection. I wouldn't say it is unique in general because I have only spent one year having a closer look into this genre. Yet it is one of the images I could imagine to keep after this project is over.
