JESUS # 39 - July 10th

This is a huge painting, not a print as it may appear to be. In the beginning, I thought it was a print. But the white area behind Jesus that looks like it had been bleached by a water intrusion is actually painted. Only the zyclone shaped stains are a result of intruding water.

I assume this was trial and is not completely finished. I can't imagine anyone in his or her right mind would position the typing avr the cross like that. The frame is crumbling apart, which adds to the atmosphere of the image.

The sentence the painter chose is from the old testament, however, and it's misquoted as well, see Jeremiah 29:13: It should be "The Lord", not "our Lord".
